Koch F. 1998. Die Symphyta der Äthiopischen Region. Neue Gattungen und Arten aus der Verwandtschaft der Neacidiophora-und Netroceros-Gruppe (Hymenoptera: Symphyta: Tenthredinidae: Allantinae). Entomol. Probl. 29 (1): 1-17.

As a result of the revision of the Afrotropical sawfly genera Neacidiophora Enslin and Netroceros Konow some new genera and species are described and new combinations proposed: Pseudoneacidiophora bicolor gen. nov. et sp. nov. and P. pleuritica ( Forsius) comb. nov.; Mucheana mandibularis gen. nov. et sp. nov. and Paranetroceros mirabilis (Forsius) comb. nov. Netroceros luteiventris Pasteels is considered a subspecies of Netroceros rufiventris Konow (N. rufiventris luteiventris Pasteels stat. nov.). The male of N. rufiventris luteiventris Pasteels and the female of Pseudoneacidiophora pleuritica (Forsius) are described for the first time. All species are illustrated, their distribution and relationships are discussed. top.gif

Mašán P. 1998. Two new mesostigmatic mites (Acarina; Proctolaelaps, Hypoaspis) associated with erotylid and melolonthine beetles (Coleoptera: Erotylidae, Scarabaeidae) from Slovakia. Entomol. Probl. 29 (1): 19-22.

Two new mesostigmatic mites (Acarina: Mesostigmata) were described. Proctolaelaps slovacus sp. nov. (Ameroseiidae) has been described on the basis of collections from the subcorticolous mycophilous erotylid beetles (Tritoma bipustulata Fbr. and Triplax aenea Shall.) and Hypoaspis (Hypoaspis) rhizotrogi sp. nov. (Hypoaspididae) from the phytophagous melolonthine beetles (Rhizotrogus aequinoctialis Hrbst., Scarabaeidae), both species from Slovakia. top.gif

Jäch M. A. 1998. Sebasthetops omaliniformis gen. et sp. nov. from South Africa (Coleoptera: Elmidae). Entomol. Probl. 29 (1): 23-25.

Sebasthetops omaliniformis gen. et sp. nov. (Hydraenidae) is described from South Africa (Cape Province). The new genus belongs to Prosthetopinae. top.gif

Mazur M. 1998. Systematik und geographische Verbreitung der Otiorhynchus perdix-Gruppe (Coleoptera: Curculionidae). Entomol. Probl. 29 (1): 27-68.

In the Otiorhynchus perdix group thirteen species, three subspecies and seven varietes have been previously described. Among these only O. perdix (Olivier, 1807), O. cephalonicus Pic, 1902, O. adonis Apfelbeck, 1906, O. valonensis Apfelbeck, 1918 and O. conjungens Apfelbeck, 1918 are distinct species. For Otiorhynchus perdix the following synonymies are established: O. perdix ssp. thalassinus Apfelbeck, 1905; Otiorhynchus perdix ssp. hypsobius Apfelbeck, 1905; O. sturanyi Apfelbeck, 1905; O. brachyscelis Apfelbeck, 1911; O. brachyscelis var. cetinjensis Apfelbeck, 1911; O. squamiperdix Reitter, 1913; O. perdix var. brutius Reitter, 1913; O. dorotkanus Reitter, 1913; O. striginurus Reitter, 1913; O. thalassinus ab. ascendens Apfelbeck, 1918c; O. thalassinus ssp. kiorensis Apfelbeck, 1918b; O. perdix var. excelsior Apfelbeck, 1919; O. perdix var. eugubinus Solari, 1932; O. thalassinus var. sanctus Solari, 1932. Furthermore, it has been stated that: 1). O. perdix var. carpathorum Csiki, 1913 is a parthenogenic form of O. adonis; 2). O. prokletiensis Apfelbeck, 1918 and O. dukatiensis Apfelbeck, 1919 do not differ specifically from O. valonensis; 3). O. vodenensis Formanek, 1922 is a synonym of O. conjungens. Otiorhynchus perdix has been split in two morphotypes (A and B). Their ranges and possible migration routes (the trans-Adriatic, east-Alpine, Carpathian and several secondary paths) are characterised. Differences in the distribution of the parthenogenic and bisexual forms of Otiorhynchus perdix and O. adonis have been pointed out. The area of the "perdix" group has been defined as circum-Pannonian with the dispersion centre in the South-West of the Balkan Peninsula. top.gif

Rozkošný R. & Kovac D. 1998. Four new Oriental species of Ptecticus, with taxonomic and biological notes on some other species (Diptera: Strationmyidae). Entomol. Probl. 29 (1): 69-77.

Ptecticus bifidus sp. nov. from Singapore, P. bilobatus sp. nov. from East Malaysia (Sabah), P. siamensis sp. nov. from Thailand and P. subaustralis sp. nov. from West and East Malaysia are described, illustrated and their relationships are briefly discussed. A female of P. proximus Rozkosny & Kovac is characterized for the first time and two extreme colour forms of P. tricolor V.D.Wulp are recorded from Thailand. top.gif

Bezděk J. & Bezděk A. 1998. Cassida bergeali Bordy, 1995 (Coleoptera, Chrysomelidae) - first record for Slovakia. Entomol. Probl. 29 (1): 18.
Based on material collected in Štúrovo, Cassida bergeali is recorded from the territory of Slovakia for the first time. The characters distinguishing Cassida bergeali from the closely related species Cassida vibex L., 1767 are briefly mentioned. top.gif

Hlaváč P. 1998. New records of Olisthaerinale (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae) from Slovakia. Entomol. Probl. 29 (1): 26.

The new records as well as all old records of Olistaerinae from Slovakia are mentioned. Olisthaerus megacephalus Zetterstedt, 1828 is recorded for the first time in Slovakia. top.gif
